Who is Watley Wood Crafts?

Hello, I am Brandon Watley, the owner of Watley Woodcrafts. Despite having a rare genetic disorder called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, which causes tight and spastic muscles in my lower body, I have never seen this as a weakness but simply “my normal”. Woodworking and golf have been my passions since High School. What started as a hobby in my dad’s shop turned into a business venture, selling barnwood furniture and taking custom orders. My first business, “Shuck it Cornhole,” began with a request for a set of cornhole boards, which led to hundreds of orders. While attending Tarleton University, I continued to take orders, which helped pay for my college. Eventually, I realized that school wasn’t for me, and when Covid hit, I saw a surge in orders. I decided to invest in a CNC machine and pursue woodworking and CNC business full-time. This marked the birth of Watley Wood Crafts, which expanded to offer various products such as boat flooring, custom cabinets, and barnwood tables, and much more thanks to the opportunities created by the CNC machine.

I absolutely love what I do. I love when I get to make threshing floor tables due to the history behind the wood. I realize I am working with 100-year-old wood that someone hand milled and used a century ago. I wonder what it would be like to meet and show them what I made with the lumber they milled so long ago. I love learning about new materials like the marine mat Eva foam. I learned how to work with this material by myself through trial and error and finally mastered how to cut it specifically; it’s an amazing material. I love going to expos and having people compliment the work I have worked so hard on. That alone is very reassuring as someone whose job depends on how others see his work. I love the fact of not knowing what jobs will come next; it truly is a mystery what projects lie ahead and I can’t wait to discover what’s next. My goal is to someday have a big enough shop to have a few workers and just be able to do something I love every day. That in itself would be a gift. I truly hope if you read this far you would allow me to help bring your next idea to reality. Whatever that project may be, please consider WWC. Thank you!
